New Delhi, July 5 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita, is set to embark on an official journey to Cambodia from July 7-8, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) this past Saturday.
Following this, the Minister will travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 10-11, upon the invitation of the sitting ASEAN Chair, Malaysia.
“Our strong and enduring relations with Cambodia are based on a rich civilizational heritage and a dynamic, people-focused development partnership. This visit aims to enhance our bilateral relations and facilitate discussions on advancing mutual interests across various sectors. The MoS will engage with Cambodia's senior leadership, connect with ITEC/ICCR alumni, and members of the Indian diaspora. Additionally, he will assess the significant restoration and conservation efforts undertaken by India at the World Heritage Sites in Cambodia, which represent our shared cultural legacy,” the MEA stated.
As per the MEA, the Minister will also take part in Foreign Ministers' Meetings under the ASEAN framework, focusing on ASEAN-India, the East Asia Summit (EAS), and the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) in Malaysia.
“India and ASEAN are interconnected through deep cultural and civilizational links. ASEAN is pivotal to India’s Act East Policy and our Indo-Pacific vision. This visit will reaffirm India's substantial engagement with the ASEAN-centered regional framework, highlight our steadfast commitment to ASEAN unity and centrality, and strengthen the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” the MEA added.
Margherita is also anticipated to conduct bilateral talks with his counterparts from other nations during the ASEAN-related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
