Quetta, Nov 8 (NationPress) Yet another Baloch civilian has been forcibly taken by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, as a concerning trend of enforced disappearances continues to escalate across the province, reported a prominent human rights organization on Saturday.
This recent incident highlights a persistent pattern of oppression characterized by a notable increase in enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and torture in the region.
Paank, the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, expressed alarm, stating that Faraz Ahmed, a resident of Peer Muhammad Bazaar in Panjgur District, was abducted on November 5 from the Satellite Town area of Quetta.
The organization has urged the relevant authorities to confirm Faraz's whereabouts, guarantee his safety, and respect due process and fundamental rights.
“We stand with his family during this troubling period and demand an immediate, transparent investigation that adheres to both national and international human rights standards,” Paank emphasized.
Highlighting the grim situation in Balochistan, the organization revealed that at least four more Baloch individuals have recently fallen victim to enforced disappearances at the hands of Pakistani security forces.
According to credible reports, Abdullah, an employee of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), was abducted in broad daylight from Dera Bugti district by suspected members of Pakistan’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD). His current status remains unknown.
Furthermore, the rights group condemned the abduction of Maroo Baloch, a resident of Hub district, who was allegedly taken by Pakistani intelligence agents on November 6 from the Daroo Hotel in Hub City.
Additionally, another Baloch student, Chakar Akbar, from Pidrak in Kech district, was forcibly disappeared on November 6 from his home, and his family has not been able to locate him since.
Moreover, the rights organization reported that Mulla Salam, a resident of Dasht Ballen in Balochistan, was taken by the “notorious” Pakistani security forces on the night of November 4, and his family has not heard from him since.
“Such detentions violate international conventions to which Pakistan is a signatory. Therefore, we call upon international human rights organizations and the United Nations, including the Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID), to take serious notice of the situation in Balochistan,” Paank concluded.
