Detailing his conversation with Chile's President Gabriel Boric Font, PM Modi emphasized the strengthening ties between the two nations.
"It was a pleasure to meet President Gabriel Boric Font of Chile during the Rio BRICS Summit. The friendship between India and Chile is continuously flourishing!" PM Modi shared on X.
In April, President Boric made a State Visit to India alongside a high-level delegation, which included ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, business representatives, media personnel, and prominent Chileans involved in cultural exchanges.
This visit marked the 76th anniversary of diplomatic relations established in 1949, enabling discussions on trade, cultural connections, and the warm bilateral relations shared. Both leaders expressed a desire to further enhance and deepen their multifaceted relationship.
PM Modi also engaged with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in Rio de Janeiro on Monday.
On X, PM Modi noted, "Had a productive interaction with Mr. Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary General, during the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro yesterday."
India's evolving relationship with the UN is rooted in its unwavering commitment to multilateral dialogue, aiming to tackle shared global challenges such as peacebuilding, sustainable development, climate change, and more.
Additionally, PM Modi discussed matters with former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, who now leads the New Development Bank (NDB).
Rousseff's presence in Rio de Janeiro was to commemorate the progress of the 'BRICS Bank' and to deliberate on reforms of global financial institutions.
"Had a fruitful conversation with Dilma Rousseff, President of the New Development Bank and former President of Brazil," PM Modi remarked.
On Tuesday, PM Modi was warmly welcomed by Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva at the Alvorada Palace in Brasilia as he commenced a State Visit following the BRICS Summit.
After a ceremonial welcome with military honors and the introduction of delegates, both leaders proceeded to a restricted meeting, followed by delegation-level discussions. A signing ceremony for various agreements is planned, along with statements to the press. PM Modi will also enjoy a State Lunch at the Alvorada Palace.
