New Delhi, Sep 18 (NationPress) The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Secretary (West) Sibi George represented India at the National Day festivities of Chile held in New Delhi, emphasizing the commitment to a robust partnership between the two nations.
While posting images from Chile's National Day celebrations on X, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal remarked, "Secretary (West) Sibi George represented India at Chile's National Day celebrations. He reiterated the commitment to a strong India-Chile partnership, guided by the roadmap established during the recent discussions between PM Narendra Modi and President Gabriel Boric."
Earlier in July, PM Modi met with Chilean President Gabriel Boric Font on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sharing insights from their meeting, PM Modi noted the strengthening friendship between both nations.
"Thrilled to have met President Gabriel Boric Font of Chile during the Rio BRICS Summit. The India-Chile friendship is becoming increasingly robust!" PM Modi posted on X.
In April, President Font visited India accompanied by a high-ranking delegation, which included ministers, Members of Parliament, senior officials, business organizations, media representatives, and notable Chileans engaged in cultural connections with India.
This visit marked the celebration of 76 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both leaders extensively discussed their historic ties that were initiated in 1949, alongside the expanding trade relations, people-to-people connections, cultural bonds, and the warm bilateral relations shared by both nations. They expressed a mutual desire to further enhance and deepen their multifaceted relationship across various areas of shared interest.
During the dialogue, PM Modi appreciated Chile's participation in all three editions of the 'Voice of Global South' Summits, which reflects a commitment to unite countries of the Global South to exchange their developmental perspectives and priorities. PM Modi expressed gratitude to President Boric for his valuable insights shared at the 3rd Voice of Global South Summit held in August 2024 and highlighted the strong alignment between the two countries on several contemporary global issues, including the necessity for reforms in global governance and equitable access for Global South nations to clean and green technologies. President Boric also acknowledged India's leadership in fortifying engagements among Global South countries.
