New Delhi, March 27 (NationPress) President of Chile, Gabriel Boric Font, is scheduled to undertake a State Visit to India from April 1-5 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday.
Boric will be joined by a high-ranking delegation consisting of ministers, parliament members, senior officials, representatives from business associations, media personnel, and notable Chileans engaged in the India-Chile cultural relationship.
This marks President Boric's inaugural visit to India in his role as President, with scheduled stops in Agra, Mumbai, and Bengaluru before his return to Chile on April 5.
During his visit, Boric will meet with Prime Minister Modi on April 1, where they will discuss the full range of India-Chile relations. PM Modi will also host a lunch in honor of the visiting leader. Additionally, Boric will meet with President Draupadi Murmu for discussions and will host a banquet in his honor.
The MEA stated, "India's relations with Chile have traditionally been warm and friendly. Chile is an important partner for India in the Latin American region. Chile was the only country in the LAC region to send a Special Envoy to India's Independence Day celebrations in 1947. The two countries share common views on several global issues, including UNSC reforms, climate change, renewable energy, and terrorism. Chile also serves as a significant trading partner for India in the LAC region."
In Mumbai and Bengaluru, Boric plans to engage with political leaders, business and industry representatives, start-ups, innovators, and tech leaders.
The forthcoming State Visit of President Boric is expected to provide a platform for both leaders to thoroughly review their bilateral relations and discuss regional and international matters of shared interest.
