PTI and Government to Hold Second Round of Talks Today in Islamabad

Islamabad, Jan 2 (NationPress) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with the government is scheduled to conduct their second round of discussions on Thursday at the Parliament House in Islamabad.
This meeting follows several internal consultations within PTI to finalize their primary demands.
The session will be led by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and will occur in the Constitution Committee Room.
The negotiations, aimed at alleviating ongoing political strife, come as PTI strives to resolve critical issues, such as the establishment of a judicial commission to probe the occurrences of May 9 and November 26, alongside the release of political prisoners.
These demands are deemed essential by PTI amidst the current political and social turbulence in the nation.
A spokesperson for the National Assembly confirmed that the meeting time was modified at the request of members, highlighting efforts to accommodate both parties and ensure fruitful discussions. The talks are being orchestrated by Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, who has stressed the significance of dialogue in resolving the deadlock.
Additionally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has reaffirmed his party’s dedication to pursuing peaceful negotiations, although he indicated PTI's willingness to initiate a protest movement if the discussions do not produce results.
In a statement to a private news outlet, Gandapur noted that PTI founder Imran Khan had empowered party leaders to engage with the government strictly in the interest of the nation.
He emphasized that while PTI is open to finding solutions through dialogue, the party is prepared to mobilize if their demands remain unmet. “Our requirements are straightforward: the establishment of an independent judicial commission and the release of our leaders and political activists,” Gandapur declared.
The ongoing discussions are being closely monitored as both parties seek a way forward amid rising political tensions. With PTI hinting at a willingness to protest if necessary, the outcome of today’s meeting is likely to have substantial consequences for the nation’s political framework.
