Islamabad, Nov 19 (NationPress) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that police forcefully apprehended the sisters of party founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi after they were once again denied their scheduled visit with him.
The PTI organized a demonstration outside Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently incarcerated, as officials prohibited family members and party workers from meeting him. Consequently, the party initiated a sit-in, accusing authorities of breaching a court directive.
According to PTI's post on X, "Police forcefully detained Imran Khan's sisters, Aleema Khan, Noreen Niazi, and Uzma Khan, while they were peacefully seated outside Adiala Jail after being denied their weekly visitation with their brother."
The party further reported that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Minister Meena Khan Afridi, along with Member of National Assembly Shahid Khattak and other party officials, including several women, faced violence and were apprehended by the police.
On Tuesday, Imran Khan's sisters, accompanied by his legal representatives, arrived at the jail for a scheduled meeting but were refused entry and made to wait for hours until nightfall.
"What should be regular, court-mandated family visits, in line with Imran Khan's rights as an inmate, are being manipulated as instruments of oppression and violence against his family and supporters," the statement further elaborated.
In footage shared by PTI, party workers, along with Aleema and Uzma, were seen surrounding a visibly distressed Noreen. Aleema reported, "Those women were dragging her on the road."
In another video released by the party, Noreen recounted that female officers pulled her by her hair and shoved her to the ground.
"I couldn't comprehend it. I still do not understand what transpired," she stated, emphasizing that PTI workers were peacefully gathered outside the jail.
PTI condemned the treatment of Imran's family as "inhumane, unlawful, and disgraceful."
"By 10 p.m., after enduring twelve hours of extreme distress, the Punjab government initiated a shocking operation that no civilized or democratic society could ever rationalize," they added.
The PTI also alleged that the area where Imran's sisters were sitting was "deliberately flooded with water."
"The lights were turned off, casting the entire area into darkness, and amidst the resulting chaos, police physically assaulted Imran Khan's sisters Aleema, Noreen, and Uzma," they stated.
Moreover, the PTI claimed that one of Imran's sisters was "dragged" across the road, "manhandled," and "violently detained despite her cries and the pleas of bystanders."
"This degree of state oppression and cruelty signifies an unprecedented attack on fundamental human dignity, constitutional rights, and moral standards," they concluded.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi condemned the police's actions towards Imran Khan's sisters and a member of his cabinet.
"The attempt to arrest MNA Shahid Khattak and other provincial and national assembly members is also reprehensible," he remarked, cautioning that the situation could escalate beyond control.
