Moscow, Feb 24 (NationPress) Russia continues to express its willingness to engage in discussions aimed at resolving the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, according to reports from local media quoting Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov.

"We maintain our openness," Peskov stated on Sunday while addressing the potential for a peaceful resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, emphasizing that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains steadfast in his approach.

Peskov noted that during a recent phone call, Putin and US President Donald Trump discussed the possibility of negotiations concerning Ukraine.

Delegations from Russia and the US engaged in talks on Tuesday in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, where they agreed to strive towards ending the conflict and enhancing bilateral relations, as reported by Xinhua.

Earlier this month, Trump described the discussions between Russia and the US in Riyadh as constructive, expressing increased confidence in resolving the Ukraine crisis.

"I feel much more confident, they were very good discussions," he told reporters on Wednesday after signing several executive orders in Mar-a-Lago, Florida, according to TASS.

"Russia is eager to take action. They aim to put an end to the brutal violence," he added.

On Tuesday, senior representatives from both the US and Russia convened for negotiations in Riyadh, marking the beginning of high-stakes discussions aimed at concluding the war in Ukraine.

The talks that took place on February 18 lasted 4.5 hours.

Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, presidential aide Yury Ushakov, and Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) head Kirill Dmitriev.
