Seoul, June 15 (NationPress) The presidential office of South Korea has urged all parties engaged in the Israel-Iran conflict to exercise restraint, emphasizing the nation's disapproval of any further escalation of military tensions in the region.
"We stand against military confrontations or rising tensions, and we call for restraint from all parties involved," remarked a presidential official when prompted about the ongoing military strife between the two Middle Eastern nations.
"Our stance is to bring this perspective to the upcoming Group of Seven (G7) summit," the official continued.
This statement aligns with President Lee Jae-myung's intended participation in the G7 summit scheduled in Canada from Sunday to Tuesday (local time), as reported by Yonhap news agency.
The official indicated that the situation could be addressed as an official agenda item at the summit, although discussions will likely be limited during an expanded G7 session.
Earlier this week, the foreign ministry of Seoul issued special travel advisories for Israel and certain regions of Iran.
"We are deeply concerned about the escalating tensions in the Middle East following Israel's strikes on Iran and we vehemently denounce all actions that threaten regional stability," stated a ministry spokesperson. "The South Korean government calls upon all involved parties to exercise maximum restraint to assist in de-escalating the situation."
