South Sudan's President Dismisses Army Chief and Central Bank Leader

Juba, Dec 10 (NationPress) The President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir, has officially relieved Chief of Defence Forces of the South Sudan People's Defence Forces, Santino Deng Wol, from his position, appointing Paul Nang Majok as his successor.

This decision was communicated through a presidential decree issued in Juba, the capital city of South Sudan. Additionally, Kiir has removed James Alic Garang, who was serving as the Governor of the Bank of South Sudan, and appointed Johnny Ohisa, the former head of the Central Bank, to take over the role.

The Presidency has not elaborated on the reasons behind these significant changes.

Furthermore, Kiir has also let go of Atak Santino Majak, who was the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence and Veterans Affairs. In another reshuffle, Abraham Peter Manyuat has been designated as the new inspector general of police, succeeding Atem Marol Biar, who was also relieved of his duties.

These recent personnel changes come on the heels of Kiir's earlier dismissal of the long-serving Director General of the National Security Service's Internal Security Bureau, Akol Koor Kuc, on October 2. He was succeeded by Akec Tong Aleu.
