Sri Lankan President Dissanayake Explores Jan Aushadhi Kendra at AIIMS in Delhi

New Delhi, Dec 18 (NationPress) Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, currently on a three-day State visit, visited a Jan Aushadhi Kendra at AIIMS today to understand the nation’s quality and affordable medicine distribution framework, according to an official announcement.

In a recent update on X, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, "President @anuradisanayake of Sri Lanka visited the Jan Aushadhi Kendra at AIIMS in Delhi today, to gain a valuable first-hand perspective of India's quality and affordable healthcare system."

"The mutual exchange of experiences and insights for the benefit of the citizens of our two nations forms a significant aspect of the India-Sri Lanka multifaceted relationship," he added.

Earlier on Tuesday, Dissanayake visited Bodh Gaya in Bihar and offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Temple, recognized as a UNESCO world heritage site.

The MEA spokesperson further noted on X: "A relationship deeply rooted in civilizational and spiritual connections! President @anuradisanayake of Sri Lanka visited the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya to seek blessings and offer prayers. Our shared values and cultural heritage are the bedrock and guiding principles of our continually expanding partnership!"

In a post on X, the Sri Lankan President remarked, "This morning (December 17), I had the honor of visiting Bodh Gaya, the revered site where Prince Siddhartha reached enlightenment. I paid my respects to the Mahabodhi Temple and the Sri Maha Bodhi tree, presenting floral tributes to the statue of Anagarika Dharmapala. I am thankful for the blessings received from the General Secretary of the Maha Bodhi Society of India, Venerable Pelwatte Seewalee Thero, and the Head of the Sarnath Centre, Venerable Rathmalwala Sumiththananda Thero."

Upon arriving at the Gaya International Airport, Dissanayake proceeded directly to the ancient Mahabodhi Temple, aged 1,500 years, one of the four sacred sites linked to the life of Lord Buddha, particularly concerning the achievement of enlightenment. He was welcomed by Bihar Ministers Prem Kumar and Santosh Kumar Suman, as well as senior officials from the district administration at the airport.

During his bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad House on Monday, President Dissanayake expressed gratitude to India for its assistance, including the provision of a Dornier aircraft for maritime surveillance and the establishment of the Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Sri Lanka, among other crucial support for enhancing the nation’s maritime domain awareness.
