"Our forces in central Khartoum are actively pressuring the militia and have secured the Corinthia Hotel and the Strategic Facilities Administration," stated SAF spokesman Nabil Abdalla.

"The headquarters of the National Intelligence Service have also been cleared, while militia members are frantically attempting to escape from our forces at this moment," he added.

The army further emphasized that it has strengthened its control over vital locations in central Khartoum, which include the Zain Tower, Central Bank of Sudan, Sahel and Sahara Bank Tower, Cooperative Tower, Bayan College, National Museum, Sudan University of Science and Technology, and Friendship Hall.

On Friday, the Sudanese army announced that it had secured the presidential palace and the government headquarters in central Khartoum.

The SAF forces "managed to eliminate the remnants of the militia in the central areas of Khartoum, including the Al Souq Al-Arabi Market, the Republican Palace buildings, and the ministries," Abdalla said in a televised statement.

"Our forces have completely obliterated the enemy's personnel and equipment and confiscated significant amounts of their weapons and gear in the aforementioned areas," he revealed.

The battle for the palace intensified over recent days, with the SAF employing warplanes and drones against RSF fighters entrenched in high-rise buildings and governmental institutions, according to reports from Xinhua news agency. Sudan has been engulfed in conflict between the SAF and RSF since mid-April 2023, resulting in nearly 30,000 casualties, as reported by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project cited by the United Nations.
