Sydney: Two Young Individuals Taken Into Custody Following Shooting and Vehicle Blaze

Sydney, Dec 12 (NationPress) Two teenagers from Australia were taken into custody on Thursday after authorities suspect their involvement in a crash, vehicle fire, and shooting incident in western Sydney.

Law enforcement in New South Wales, Australia, stated in a press release on Thursday that officers acted on reports of gunfire at a barbershop in Mount Druitt, located approximately 40 kilometres west of downtown Sydney, around 2:20 a.m. local time on Thursday, according to Xinhua news agency.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered multiple bullet holes in the window of the shop.

The shooting was reported shortly after law enforcement apprehended two 17-year-old males at the scene of a crashed vehicle in a nearby suburb.

The vehicle, which authorities identified as stolen, had failed to adhere to a police directive to stop, prompting a chase that concluded with the crash. The two teenagers were unharmed and detained at the scene.

“During a search of the vehicle, police discovered and confiscated two firearms, a jerry can filled with petrol, and two balaclavas,” stated NSW Police.

At around 2:10 a.m., emergency responders were summoned to reports of a nearby car fire.

Following preliminary investigations, police suspect that all three incidents are interconnected, as reported by Australia's 9News network.

Crime scenes have been established at the locations of the shooting and the vehicle fire. The investigation remains active.
