A 13-year-old boy died at the scene and three others were hospitalised under police guard after an allegedly stolen vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and crashed into a field 110 kilometres north of Sydney in the early hours of Monday, 3 August. The crash occurred around 3 am local time, drawing an emergency response that found the teenager unresponsive.

What Happened at the Crash Site

Emergency services attended the scene and attempted to revive the 13-year-old, but he could not be resuscitated and was declared dead at the scene. A 14-year-old boy was arrested at the crash site and transported to hospital with leg injuries.

Two other individuals believed to have been travelling in the vehicle fled before police arrived. Following subsequent inquiries, an 18-year-old and a second 14-year-old were located, arrested, and taken to hospital under police guard.

In an unrelated incident, a 60-year-old man was shot inside his home in the western Sydney suburb of South Wentworthville around 9:10 pm on Sunday. Police said two males wearing head coverings entered the property, shot the resident, and fled the scene.

The victim was treated by ambulance paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to hospital in a stable condition. The Daily Telegraph reported that the man was an innocent relative of a family with alleged links to organised crime.

Separately, a 44-year-old man from the same family was reportedly the target of an attempted shooting in June, while collecting his daughter from a western Sydney school — underscoring what investigators may view as a sustained pattern of targeted violence linked to the same network.

Investigation Status

Police have established a crime scene at the South Wentworthville property and an investigation into the shooting is ongoing. No arrests have been publicly confirmed in connection with the shooting as of Monday. Both incidents are being handled as separate investigations, though the South Wentworthville shooting is being examined in the context of broader organised crime activity in the region.
