Three Lives Lost in Israeli Airstrike in Southern Lebanon

Beirut, Jan 13 (NationPress) Three individuals were tragically killed during an Israeli airstrike that targeted a gathering near the Shebaa Farms in southern Lebanon, as reported by a Lebanese military source.
The source, who wished to remain anonymous, informed Xinhua on Sunday that an Israeli drone launched an air-to-ground missile at the Bastra region south of the town of Shebaa, leading to these fatalities.
The Israel Defense Forces confirmed in a statement on Saturday that their air force had identified and struck three “suspects” near the Israeli-annexed Shebaa Farms area, according to Xinhua news agency.
On Sunday, Lebanon's General Directorate of Civil Defence reported retrieving two bodies in the Lebanese town of Khiam, along with the remains of eight individuals in Naqoura, two bodies in the village of Biyyadah, and one body in Tayr Harfa.
In a separate incident, Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes on Sunday night, targeting areas surrounding Baalbek city in eastern Lebanon for the first time since the ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel was enacted on November 27, 2024.
Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) indicated that the airstrikes impacted the town of Jenta in the Baalbek-Hermel district, but did not disclose any information regarding casualties.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli warplanes reportedly executed six intense airstrikes against various locations, according to NNA.
The ceasefire, negotiated by the US and France, aimed to conclude nearly 14 months of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah. The agreement stipulates Israel's withdrawal from Lebanese territory within 60 days, with the Lebanese army assuming security responsibilities along the Lebanese-Israeli border. Additionally, it prohibits any presence of weapons or militants in the area.
Despite this ceasefire agreement, the Israeli military has continued to conduct strikes in Lebanon, albeit at a diminished intensity, with some operations resulting in fatalities and injuries.
Israel also accuses Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire.
