Washington, June 26 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has come forward in support of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling for authorities to swiftly terminate the ongoing trial against him or provide a pardon, as he deems the allegations to be politically driven and unfair.
In a comprehensive statement on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump expressed disbelief that Netanyahu continues to face prosecution amid what he described as one of Israel's most significant achievements — the recent military action against Iran.
He praised Netanyahu's leadership, referring to him as a 'warrior' in Israel's fundamental battle against Iran. "I was astounded to learn that the State of Israel, which has just experienced one of its greatest moments in history and is admirably led by Bibi Netanyahu, is persisting in its absurd Witch Hunt against their esteemed wartime Prime Minister!" Trump remarked.
"Bibi and I have endured tremendous challenges together, combating a formidable and cunning longstanding adversary of Israel, Iran, and Bibi could not have been more effective, astute, or committed in his dedication to the remarkable holy land. Anyone else would have faced losses, humiliation, and disorder! Bibi Netanyahu is a warrior, perhaps unlike any other in Israel's history," Trump elaborated.
Claiming that Netanyahu's governance has neutralized a major nuclear threat from Iran, Trump stated, "The outcome was something that few believed achievable, a complete eradication of what could have become one of the largest and most potent Nuclear Weapons globally, and it was imminent!"
He further criticized the Israeli judicial system for what he characterized as a politically charged prosecution, dubbing the case a 'horror show.'
Netanyahu, who has been under scrutiny since 2020, faces accusations that include accepting luxury gifts like cigars and champagne, as well as promoting regulatory advantages for media tycoons in return for favorable coverage.
Trump dismissed these claims as trivial and ludicrous.
"I just discovered that Bibi has been summoned to court on Monday for the continuation of this prolonged politically motivated case, 'involving cigars, a Bugs Bunny doll, and many other unjust accusations' aimed to inflict damage upon him," Trump posted.
"Such a witch hunt against a man who has contributed so much is unimaginable to me," he added.
Calling for justice, Trump concluded, "He deserves far better than this, and so does the State of Israel. Bibi Netanyahu's trial should be immediately annulled, or a pardon granted to a great hero who has contributed immensely to the State."
Trump emphasized the robust relationship between the United States and Israel, asserting that Washington has previously supported Israel and will now stand by Netanyahu.
"There may not be anyone with whom I could have collaborated better than Bibi Netanyahu when I was President of the United States. The United States of America has safeguarded Israel, and now it will be the United States of America that rescues Bibi Netanyahu," he said.
Netanyahu, the longest-serving Prime Minister of Israel, has refuted all allegations, asserting that they stem from a biased legal and media apparatus intent on removing him from power.
