Washington, Jan 26 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has reiterated his demand for a comprehensive crackdown on illegal immigration, calling on Democratic governors and mayors to work alongside federal authorities. He also stated that his administration is “reviewing everything” in connection with the recent fatal shooting of a man by a federal officer in Minneapolis.

In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump attributed the rise in criminal migration to the previous administration, claiming that his election was fueled by his vow to secure the border and execute mass deportations.

“During the four years of Crooked Joe Biden and Democrat failed leadership, tens of millions of illegal alien criminals have entered our country,” Trump asserted, asserting that this group includes “hundreds of thousands of convicted murderers, rapists, kidnappers, drug dealers, and terrorists.”

Trump claimed that he won the election “in a historic landslide,” and that Republicans gained majorities in both chambers of Congress thanks to their promise to “SEAL THE BORDER.” He asserted that this commitment has been delivered and that “the largest mass deportation of illegal alien criminals in American history” is currently taking place.

“This deportation initiative is in progress, and in Republican-run cities and states, these operations are proceeding peacefully and efficiently,” Trump noted, praising the collaboration between local police and federal agents.

Pointing to five Republican-led states — Texas, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and Louisiana — Trump stated that Immigration and Customs Enforcement has apprehended “150,245 criminal illegal aliens over the past year — with ZERO protests, riots, or chaos.”

“Why?” he asked. “Because local police and ICE are working together.”

Trump sharply criticized Democratic-led “Sanctuary Cities and States,” accusing them of failing to cooperate with ICE and of “encouraging left-wing agitators to unlawfully obstruct their operations.”

“By doing this, Democrats are prioritizing illegal alien criminals over taxpaying, law-abiding citizens,” he claimed, adding that “two American citizens have lost their lives as a result of this Democrat-initiated chaos.”

In a follow-up post, Trump urged Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, as well as “EVERY Democrat Governor and Mayor,” to formally cooperate with his administration.

He demanded state and local authorities hand over “all criminal illegal aliens currently incarcerated,” consent to provide “all illegal aliens arrested by local police,” and assist federal agents in capturing those “wanted for crimes.”

Trump also called on Congress to “immediately pass legislation to END Sanctuary Cities,” asserting that American cities should be “Safe Sanctuaries for Law Abiding American Citizens ONLY.”

“All of these requests are grounded in COMMON SENSE,” he stated, adding that his administration is waiting for Democrats “to do the right thing.”

The president's remarks came amid increasing scrutiny of his administration’s immigration enforcement actions in Minnesota, including a recent fatal shooting.

In a five-minute telephone conversation with The Wall Street Journal, Trump refrained from stating whether the federal officer who shot and killed Alex Pretti, 37, acted appropriately.

“We’re looking into it, reviewing everything, and will come to a conclusion,” Trump remarked when questioned about the incident.

“I don’t like any shooting. I don’t like it,” he added. “But I don’t like it when someone enters a protest with a very powerful, fully loaded gun with two loaded magazines. That doesn’t look good either.”

Trump claimed that Pretti was armed with a “very dangerous gun, a dangerous and unpredictable gun,” stating, “It’s a gun that goes off when people are unaware.” The Department of Homeland Security clarified that Pretti was carrying a 9mm semiautomatic handgun.

The president hinted that immigration enforcement officers might eventually withdraw from the Minneapolis area.

“At some point we will leave. They’ve done an exceptional job,” Trump said, adding that another group would stay for “the financial fraud.”

Trump cited a welfare fraud investigation in Minnesota as a reason for increased enforcement, remarking, “It’s the biggest fraud anyone has encountered.” He also suggested that “California may witness an even larger issue.”

Pretti, an intensive care nurse, was recording Border Patrol agents on a Minneapolis street when he was shot and pronounced dead on the scene. Initially, federal authorities claimed he “violently resisted” officers, although bystander video reviewed by The Wall Street Journal seemed to dispute that account.
