Washington, Feb 6 (NationPress) - Former President Donald Trump addressed lawmakers and religious figures, asserting that faith is fundamental to America's resilience, proclaiming that “prayer is America’s superpower” during his remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast.

Trump emphasized that religion is making a comeback in public spheres after a period of decline. He credited his administration for championing religious liberty and reinvigorating faith within national discourse.

“This is a cherished American tradition,” he stated. “It’s truly an honor to be here.”

The former president infused humor into his speech while delivering pointed political criticisms. He accused the media of distorting his comments and claimed that Democrats are against religion, voter ID laws, and prayer in educational institutions.

“I can’t fathom how a believer can cast a vote for a Democrat,” Trump remarked.

He pointed to signs of a national religious revival, such as increased church attendance, record Bible sales, and a rise in military enlistment. According to Trump, young Americans are attending church at nearly double the rate from four years prior.

“Prayer fortifies. Prayer heals. Prayer empowers,” he stated emphatically. “Prayer saves.”

Trump announced plans for a nationwide religious event on May 17, 2026, inviting Americans to gather at the National Mall to “rededicate America as one nation under God.”

He highlighted several initiatives aimed at religious conservatives, including new federal guidelines protecting prayer in public schools, easing restrictions on political discourse by religious authorities, and establishing a White House Faith Office.

Trump also defended policies that prohibit transgender athletes from competing in women’s sports and cutting federal funding to institutions promoting gender ideology. He noted that his administration reinstated service members who were discharged for religious objections to vaccine mandates.

On matters of foreign policy, Trump stated that peace relies on strength, warning that attacks against Christians globally would prompt a robust response from the U.S.

“When Christians are threatened, they know what’s coming,” he cautioned.

He referenced U.S. military actions against ISIS-affiliated militants in Nigeria and asserted that his administration is tackling anti-Christian discrimination at home and abroad.

Trump also praised advancements in energy production, investments, and crime reduction, claiming that stricter law enforcement has made Washington safer and restored public trust.

He concluded with anecdotes of faith and resilience, urging Americans to view religion as vital to unity and peace. “Blessed are the peacemakers,” he said. “However, peace is achieved through strength.”
