Washington, Aug 4 (NationPress) US President Donald Trump has once again asserted his role in mediating the recent ceasefire between India and Pakistan, along with addressing numerous other global disputes.
On Sunday, Trump utilized his social media platform to criticize American radio personality and author Charlamagne Tha God, asserting that the author is unaware of his accomplishments, which he claims include the cessation of “five wars.”
“Like just ending five wars, including a 31-year bloodshed between the Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, where seven million lives were lost with no resolution in sight. He was unaware of that, or the situation between India and Pakistan, or dismantling Iran's nuclear arsenal, or securing our borders, or fostering the greatest economy,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
These comments come shortly after White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed that the US President managed to conclude several international conflicts, including the one between India and Pakistan, during his initial six months in office, warranting consideration for the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize.
“The President has effectively resolved disputes involving Thailand and Cambodia, Israel and Iran, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, India and Pakistan, Serbia and Kosovo, and Egypt and Ethiopia. This averages out to approximately one peace agreement or ceasefire each month during his first six months. It is high time President Trump was recognized with the Nobel Peace Prize,” she stated during a White House press briefing.
Last week, during a forum in the Rajya Sabha regarding Operation Sindoor, External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar firmly affirmed that no telephonic discussions took place between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Trump from April 22 to June 16.
In response to concerns raised during the debate, Jaishankar emphasized India's steadfast policy against third-party mediation in its interactions with Pakistan. He reiterated that any talks must remain strictly bilateral and contingent on formal communication through the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMO).
“When we initiated Operation Sindoor, several nations reached out for clarification on the situation,” the EAM remarked.
“We communicated a consistent message - we were not amenable to external mediation. Any matter between India and Pakistan would be settled bilaterally. We were responding to an attack, and that response would persist unless Pakistan formally sought a halt to hostilities through the appropriate military channels,” he added.
