Turkish Foreign Minister Emphasizes Necessity to Stop Terrorists from Capitalizing on Syria's Circumstances

Doha, Dec 8 (NationPress) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized here on Sunday the importance of preventing terrorist organizations from exploiting the circumstances in Syria to further their own agendas.

During a press conference at the Doha Forum 2024 in Qatar, Fidan reiterated Turkey's dedication to supporting the Syrian populace, committing to assist in overcoming the challenges that lie ahead.

When questioned about the location of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, he replied, ‘Most likely outside of Syria,’ as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Fidan mentioned that recent events in Syria have been closely monitored in collaboration with significant Arab nations, including Qatar, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, along with the United States, aiming to foster regional stability.

“The new administration must be established in a systematic manner,” Fidan insisted, calling on international and regional players to facilitate a smooth transition in Syria.

His comments came as Syrian rebel forces captured the capital Damascus and announced the fall of Assad's regime earlier on Sunday.
