Turkish Foreign Minister Engages with Iranian and Russian Officials on Syrian Crisis

Ankara, Dec 6 (NationPress) Turkey has officially announced that Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will meet with his Russian and Iranian counterparts in Qatar on Saturday to address the worsening situation in Syria.

This meeting, conducted within the framework of the Astana process, is set to occur alongside the 22nd Doha Forum, which is scheduled for December 7-8. This information comes from an unnamed source within Turkey's Foreign Ministry, as reported by Turkey's Anadolu Agency and Xinhua news agency.

During the forum, Fidan is also anticipated to take part in several sessions and provide remarks. Furthermore, he is likely to engage in bilateral discussions with his counterparts throughout his visit.

The Astana process, initiated in January 2017 by Russia, Iran, and Turkey, aims to achieve a peaceful solution to the Syrian conflict.

Since November 27, groups of Syrian rebels, led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, have launched a significant offensive in Syria, seizing critical cities like Aleppo and Hama. This offensive has severely impacted the Syrian government and raised alarms regarding a potential humanitarian crisis.
