Haikou, Oct 19 (NationPress) The 24th typhoon of the year, Fengshen, is anticipated to enter the eastern regions of the South China Sea by Sunday evening, with local authorities reporting a gradual increase in its intensity.
The typhoon is projected to reach its maximum strength, classified as a severe tropical storm or typhoon, with wind speeds estimated between 30 to 35 meters per second, as per the meteorological bureau of Hainan Province, Xinhua News Agency disclosed.
From Tuesday onward, guided by a cold front moving southward, this typhoon is likely to shift southwest across the northern waters of the South China Sea, steering towards the sea area southeast of Hainan Island, while it slowly weakens.
A Level IV maritime typhoon warning was issued at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, and the Hainan provincial disaster prevention committee has initiated a Level IV maritime emergency response.
