Mumbai, March 19 (NationPress) Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated on Wednesday that Ukraine is eager for peace and aims to conclude the conflict with Russia by the end of this year.

"With global backing, particularly from India, we can articulate our position. We look forward to a phone conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump. Our objective is a fair, enduring, and all-encompassing peace. This act of Russian aggression transcends Ukraine, challenging the global order, international principles, and territorial integrity," Sybiha expressed during the conference titled "Ukraine India: From Comprehensive to Strategic Partnership", organized by the World Trade Centre, All India Association of India, and the Embassy of Ukraine.

"Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire, which is crucial; it relates to both overall and business opportunities. We have unconditionally accepted this ceasefire proposal and anticipate that the Russian side will do the same. I emphasize that peace must be just, lasting, and comprehensive," the Minister added.

"Ending the war will unlock numerous opportunities. There is tremendous potential here. Historically, Ukraine and India have maintained strong ties. We aim to enhance our bilateral relationship, and India's role is vital. We genuinely hope to strengthen these ties," he remarked.

The Foreign Minister also inaugurated Ukraine's Consulate in Mumbai.

He stated: "The establishment of the Consulate in Mumbai is a positive step that will further enhance trade and bilateral relations between India and Ukraine. It's not merely coincidental that a shipment of apples from Ukraine has just arrived at Mumbai Harbour. Despite the ongoing conflict, we managed to achieve this."

"If we can successfully implement the ceasefire, it will restore freedom, which is essential for our bilateral trade. It will facilitate freedom of navigation," he added.

As per the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, the reconstruction presents a significant opportunity for Indian businesses and companies to engage.

"The destruction caused by Russian missiles has severely damaged our infrastructure, including schools and hospitals, with losses amounting to $600 billion. We will require support for reconstruction. There are numerous opportunities for you (India) to be part of this substantial project," Sybiha stated.

The Minister asserted that with India's assistance, Ukraine could attain peace.

During an interactive session at the Raisina Dialogue in Delhi on Tuesday, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister mentioned that while his country seeks a peaceful solution to the conflict, it will not compromise on its territorial integrity.

He also indicated that lasting and just peace is achievable under President Trump's leadership.

He emphasized that it is in the global interest to secure a durable and equitable peace, noting that Ukraine is not opposed to peace initiatives, having accepted the US proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia.
