Mumbai, March 19 (NationPress) Andrii Sybiha, the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, stated on Wednesday that Ukraine seeks peace and the conclusion of the ongoing conflict with Russia within this year.

"With global backing, particularly from India, we have the opportunity to voice our position. We anticipate a phone conversation between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump. Our aim is to achieve a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace. This Russian aggression transcends Ukraine; it concerns the global order, international principles, and territorial integrity," Sybiha remarked during the conference titled "Ukraine India: From Comprehensive to Strategic Partnership" organized by the World Trade Centre, All India Association of India, and the Embassy of Ukraine.

"Ukraine has agreed to a ceasefire; this is vital for both overall opportunities and business prospects. We have unconditionally accepted the ceasefire proposal and expect Russia to do the same. I emphasize that peace must be just, lasting, and comprehensive," the Minister reiterated.

"Ending the war will unlock numerous opportunities. Both India and Ukraine have a rich history of strong relations. We wish to enhance our bilateral ties, with India's role being crucial. We sincerely hope to strengthen these relations," he added.

Foreign Minister Sybiha inaugurated Ukraine's Consulate in Mumbai.

He noted: "The establishment of the Consulate in Mumbai is a significant step forward, as it will enhance our bilateral relations and trade between India and Ukraine. It is no mere coincidence that a shipment of apples from Ukraine has just arrived at Mumbai Harbour. Despite the war, we achieved this milestone."

"If we can realize the ceasefire, it will aid in restoring freedom, which is crucial for our bilateral trade and will enable freedom of navigation," he added.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, reconstruction presents a significant opportunity for Indian businesses and enterprises to engage.

"The Russian missile strikes have inflicted damage worth $600 billion on our infrastructure, including schools and hospitals. We will require support for reconstruction. There are numerous opportunities for you (India) to become involved in this extensive project," Sybiha stated.

The Minister asserted that with India's assistance, Ukraine can attain peace.

On Tuesday, during a session at the Raisina Dialogue in Delhi, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister expressed that while his nation yearns for a peaceful resolution, it will not compromise on its territorial integrity.

He added that a just and lasting peace is feasible under President Trump's leadership.

Furthermore, he stated that achieving a long-lasting and just peace aligns with global interests, asserting that Ukraine does not oppose peace initiatives, as it has accepted the U.S. proposal for a 30-day ceasefire with Russia.
