United Nations, Feb 13 (NationPress) The United Nations endorses all endeavors aimed at resolving the Ukraine-Russia conflict, perceiving the recent conversation between the US and Russian leaders as a positive development, according to a UN spokesperson.

"Any initiative that seeks to mediate the war in Ukraine involving both the Russian and Ukrainian parties is something we value. It’s clear that if both sides show willingness to engage in a dialogue, it is a welcome advancement," stated Farhan Haq, deputy spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during a Wednesday press briefing regarding the phone call.

"Given the significance of both the United States and the Russian Federation, the UN is supportive of any efforts aimed at resolving disputes through consistent communication," the spokesperson remarked, labeling the leaders' conversation as positive.

Reports from the White House and the Kremlin confirmed on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in a phone conversation, as reported by Xinhua news agency.

Following his inaugural official call with President Putin, Trump shared on Truth Social, "We both concurred that we aim to halt the millions of fatalities occurring in the War with Russia/Ukraine."

After his discussion with Zelensky, Trump mentioned, "A meeting is being organized for Friday in Munich, where Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will head the delegation."

The delegation will attend the Munich Security Conference, which will see foreign affairs, defense, and security officials from various nations in attendance.

Trump remarked that Zelensky, like President Putin, desires to establish PEACE. They discussed an array of subjects concerning the war.

When inquired about the UN's potential participation in the negotiations, Haq responded, "We need to determine what role we might play. As we have reiterated over the past three years, the United Nations is prepared to act as a facilitator if the parties involved request it."
