UN Representative Calls for an End to Israeli Military Actions in Syria

Geneva, Dec 11 (NationPress) The special envoy of the United Nations (UN) Secretary-General for Syria has urged Israel to halt its military actions in Syria, stressing the urgent necessity to end all conflicts throughout the Middle East.
"A very troubling development is that we are continuing to see Israeli movements and bombardments into Syrian territory. This needs to stop," Geir Pedersen stated during a press conference.
Pedersen pointed out that Syria is governed by a complex array of factions that lack formal coherence, emphasizing that the ongoing issues related to law and order demand immediate attention, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
He also advocated for a comprehensive representation of all Syrian factions in the nation’s political transition process. "There need to be inclusive arrangements that ensure the representation of the broadest possible spectrum of Syrian society and parties. If this does not happen, then there will be a new conflict in Syria," he cautioned.
Pedersen characterized Syria as being at a crossroads, presenting both significant opportunities and considerable risks. No one could have predicted some of the recent changes, and the situation continues to evolve quickly, he noted.
