Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bhopal, March 1 (NationPress) The Congress party has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to prioritize the safety of all Indians, particularly the more than 100 Madhya Pradesh citizens stranded at the airports in Dubai and Sharjah, as a result of the ongoing US-Israel military actions against Iran and subsequent retaliatory strikes.
They have called for an immediate intervention by the Prime Minister to ensure the safety and quick return of these stranded individuals.
In the wake of the attacks, Iran has been targeting various locations in the Gulf region, including Qatar, Jordan, and Dubai.
Notably, a drone strike took place near Dubai's renowned Burj Khalifa, the tallest building on the planet.
The state Congress leader, Jitu Patwari, has reached out to the Prime Minister via his X handle, requesting the necessary arrangements for the return of all affected passengers.
Patwari posted on his social media, stating, "More than 100 citizens from Madhya Pradesh are currently stranded at Dubai and Sharjah airports due to the Israel-Iran conflict. Families, including women and children, have faced significant distress for hours following the cancellation of their flights."
As a result of the conflict, all flights to and from Dubai have been halted indefinitely.
Specifically, the Air India Express flight IX-256 from Sharjah to Indore has been cancelled. Flights IX255 (IDR–SHJ) and IX256 (SHJ–IDR) scheduled for Saturday have also been called off, leaving over 100 passengers from Madhya Pradesh stuck at the airports.
The affected travelers come from various districts in Madhya Pradesh, such as Indore, Bhopal, and Gwalior.
Many of these stranded individuals are families, including women and children. Reports indicate that a flight from Sharjah to Indore was set to depart at 12:20 PM UAE time but was cancelled unexpectedly.
Passengers were informed of the cancellation only upon their arrival at the airport. Numerous travelers had reached Dubai with plans for connecting flights from Sharjah to Indore and are now also stranded.
