Key Takeaways
Kolhapur (Maharashtra), March 3 (NationPress) - A group of 25 individuals from the Hupre region of Kolhapur, who were stranded in Dubai due to escalating tensions in the Middle East, have safely arrived back in Kolhapur this morning. They were on one of the two flights that facilitated the evacuation of Indians from the Gulf nations.
The hotel where this group was lodged in Dubai, along with its vicinity, experienced attacks. They took a dangerous journey by road from Dubai to Abu Dhabi before catching their flight back to India. Upon their return, families celebrated their safety, with many elders expressing their joy through tears. The travelers shared their experiences of witnessing the violence in Dubai, the conditions at the airport, and the sight of smoke rising from aerial strikes. In a gesture of compassion, the Dubai administration provided each returning passenger with ₹26,000.
In an interview with IANS regarding their harrowing experience, Shital Barge, a member of the group that traveled to Dubai on February 24, stated, “Dubai is a highly developed country. While we went to see its attractions, we also encountered this alarming situation before returning. It feels wonderful to be back in our homeland. There was also another group of 22 people from Kolhapur who have not yet managed to secure a flight.”
Another traveler, Tukaram Raut, expressed his relief at being home. “I am very happy to be back; being with family brings immense peace. Our visit to Dubai started on the 24th, and the first five days were great... we explored various places. However, the onset of conflict was terrifying. Thanks to the efforts of both governments, we returned safely.”
The travelers closely followed the developments in the region and praised the swift coordination between the Indian and UAE governments that ensured their safe return. They described Dubai as generally safe and normal during their stay, but the uncertainty stemming from regional conflicts highlighted the necessity for timely updates and government support in such scenarios.
The safe return of these individuals emphasizes the challenges faced by Indian nationals in conflict-affected regions and underscores the vital role of diplomatic and governmental actions in securing their safety.
