Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) Many Indians returning from Muscat and Oman on Tuesday expressed immense relief after safely landing back home and applauded the efforts of authorities in managing the challenging situation in the region. Numerous passengers conveyed their happiness and relief upon their return to India, particularly those traveling with young children.
IANS interviewed several travelers who arrived in Delhi from Muscat. Anisha Agarwal, one of the passengers, mentioned, “Missiles were being intercepted, and out of concern, we chose to return. The Dubai government managed the situation exceptionally well. Our children were with us, and that made us quite anxious. We panicked due to the ongoing situation. The loud noises from the interceptions were distressing for the kids.”
Another traveler from Muscat stated, “We decided to come back as we didn’t feel entirely safe there. The missile interception system was functioning very effectively. Personally, I wasn’t overly scared, but since we had children, we felt it was prudent to return to India. Everything is fine now.”
Adil, another returnee, recounted his experience: “We dealt with a lot of uncertainty there. We were anxious about potentially missing our flight as multiple flights were canceled. We reached out to the Indian embassy for support. I feel very relaxed and happy after returning to India. Initially, flights were halted, but now operations have resumed. My journey back was smooth, and I didn’t encounter any major issues during travel.”
The return of passengers occurred shortly after Iranian drones and missiles reportedly targeted areas in the region, prompting the temporary suspension of airport operations. Thousands of Indians stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) faced disruptions as numerous flights were canceled and airspace was closed over parts of the Middle East.
Several flights from Dubai and Abu Dhabi resumed operations, with aircraft landing in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru on Monday night following days of suspension.
Dubai Airports confirmed the partial resumption of operations and advised travelers to refrain from heading to the airport unless they had been directly contacted by their airline with a confirmed departure schedule. The restoration of flight services has provided significant relief to stranded passengers and their families eagerly awaiting their safe return.
