Caracas, Feb 4 (NationPress) In a powerful demonstration, thousands gathered in the heart of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, to call for the liberation of President Nicolas Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores. This rally follows their abduction during a US military operation a month prior.
Governor of Miranda state, Elio Serrano, emphasized that this mobilization illustrates the unwavering resolve of the people to express that they are still standing strong. He added that acting president Delcy Rodriguez enjoys the people’s backing, as noted by the Xinhua news agency.
Jenny Escobar, head of the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs of Venezuela, highlighted that the gathering reaffirmed the people's loyalty and steadfast support for Maduro and Flores.
Protesters made their way from Plaza Venezuela toward Urdaneta Avenue in central Caracas, continuing a series of demonstrations that have persisted since January 3.
Meanwhile, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) publicly supported acting president Delcy Rodriguez's initiatives aimed at national reconciliation and unity, as per a statement from Defence Minister Vladimir Padrino Lopez.
This announcement came exactly one month after the US forcibly took Maduro and Flores in a military raid. Padrino remarked that despite the “open wounds,” the FANB stands behind Rodriguez’s efforts to bolster the democratic framework and facilitate the return of Maduro and Flores.
“A month ago, Venezuela faced an assault from the world’s most powerful nuclear nation through an unprecedented and disproportionate military operation,” Padrino stated, commending the Venezuelan troops for their response. He reaffirmed that the military remains loyal to the Constitution and acting president.
