In November, Xu Feihong highlighted China's readiness to collaborate with India in high-level practical cooperation.
"During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China aims to fortify the real economy, enhance sci-tech self-reliance, and promote high-standard openings, creating more cooperation prospects for all nations, including India," he stated at a seminar on 'China's 15th Five-Year Plan: A New Blueprint for China’s Development, New Opportunities for China-India Cooperation'.
He elaborated: "We will upgrade traditional sectors like chemicals and machinery, which is projected to unlock around $1.4 trillion in new market opportunities in the upcoming five years. We will cultivate emerging industries such as new energy and materials, which are expected to generate several trillion-dollar growth engines. Moreover, we will strategically invest in future sectors like bio-manufacturing and sixth-generation mobile communication, equivalent to establishing an entirely new high-tech industrial ecosystem for China over the next decade."
He further mentioned, "Currently, India is implementing significant strategies like 'Make in India.' China is eager to deepen practical cooperation with India to expand common interests, ensuring that citizens of both nations reap greater benefits from development outcomes."
In August, during a meeting in Tianjin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping discussed enhancing bilateral relations and building upon the recent advancements in India-China ties.
