Beijing, March 17 (NationPress) China expressed its appreciation for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent positive remarks regarding China-India relations, emphasizing the earnest implementation of the critical consensus established by the leaders of both nations during their meeting in Kazan last year.
In a discussion with US-based podcaster Lex Fridman, released on Sunday, PM Modi underscored the ongoing efforts to ensure that differences between the two countries do not escalate into conflicts, highlighting that dialogue is essential for a diplomatic approach.
PM Modi stated that collaboration between India and China is crucial for global stability and prosperity, advocating for healthy competition instead of conflict.
"Dialogue is the cornerstone of cultivating a stable and cooperative relationship that benefits both nations," he remarked.
In response to Prime Minister Modi's comments, China's Foreign Ministry noted that during their successful meeting in Kazan last October, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi provided strategic direction for enhancing and developing China-India relations.
"We appreciate Prime Minister Modi's recent positive remarks on China-India relations. Last October, President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Modi met successfully in Kazan and provided strategic guidance for improving and developing China-India relations. Recently, the two sides have earnestly implemented the significant consensus reached by the leaders of the two nations, strengthened exchanges and practical cooperation at all levels, and achieved a series of positive outcomes," stated Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning during a regular media briefing in Beijing.
The spokesperson emphasized the rich historical exchanges between India and China spanning over 2,000 years, noting that friendly interactions and mutual learning have been the norm, significantly contributing to world civilization and human advancement.
"As the two largest developing nations, the current joint task for both parties is to strive for the development and revitalization of their respective countries. They should understand, support, and achieve mutual success. This aligns with the fundamental interests of more than 2.8 billion individuals in both nations, fulfills the common expectations of regional countries, corresponds with the historical trend of the Global South's remarkable growth, and fosters world peace, stability, development, and prosperity," she added.
