New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) The Ministry of Home Affairs has revealed the official list of awardees for medals in categories such as Police, Fire Services, Home Guard & Civil Defence, and Correctional Services in honor of Independence Day this Friday.
The accolades include Gallantry Awards, the President's Medal for Distinguished Service, and the Medal for Meritorious Service.
This year, a total of 1,090 medals will be awarded, featuring 233 Gallantry Medals, 99 President's Medals for Distinguished Service, and 758 Medals for Meritorious Service.
Within the Police sector, 226 officers and personnel have been recognized with the Gallantry Medal, while 89 will receive the President's Medal for Distinguished Service, and 635 will obtain the Medal for Meritorious Service.
The largest share of Gallantry Medals has been awarded to personnel from Jammu and Kashmir, followed closely by members of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Border Security Force (BSF).
In the Fire Services category, 62 awards have been designated, including six Gallantry Medals, five President's Medals for Distinguished Service, and 51 Medals for Meritorious Service.
For the Home Guard and Civil Defence categories, the honors include one Gallantry Medal, three President's Medals for Distinguished Service, and 41 Medals for Meritorious Service.
Two officers from the Correctional Services will be awarded the President's Medal for Distinguished Service, while 31 will receive the Medal for Meritorious Service.
This annual recognition serves as a tribute to the bravery, dedication, and distinguished service of officers and personnel across various states, union territories, and central armed police forces.
