New Delhi, Aug 14 (NationPress) A total of 54 personnel from areas impacted by Left Wing Extremism are among the 233 individuals recognized with Medals for Gallantry announced on this year's Independence Day, according to a statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
This announcement is part of a larger selection of 1,090 personnel from the Police, Fire, Home Guard and Civil Defence (HG&CD), and Correctional Services who have been chosen for various Gallantry and Service Medals on this occasion, as noted by the Ministry.
Among the awardees, 233 individuals received the Medal for Gallantry (GM), while 99 were honored with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), and 758 received the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).
The Delhi Police has 18 officers and personnel recognized, which includes 3 President’s Medals for Distinguished Service and 15 for Meritorious Service. Among those awarded the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service were Garima Bhatnagar, IPS, Special CP; Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda, IPS, DGP/Chandigarh; and SI (Exe.) Satender Yadav, as stated by the Ministry.
Nationally, out of the 233 Medals for Gallantry, 226 were awarded to Police personnel, 6 to Fire Service personnel, and 1 to HG&CD personnel.
