Over 11 lakh BJP workers enrolled in Deendayal Upadhyaya digital training drive
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Wednesday, 8 July announced that more than 11 lakh workers have enrolled in the party's digital training initiative — the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Training Maha Abhiyan — surpassing its original target and marking what the party describes as a significant step in grassroots digital empowerment.
Scale of the Campaign
A total of 11,01,618 karyakartas from across India have registered on the SARAL app-based Digital Learning Platform (DLP), which offers study material in 12 languages, instructional videos, quizzes, and digital certificates. The platform was formally launched on 6 April — the BJP's Foundation Day — by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, National Organisation General Secretary B.L. Santosh, and National Co-Organisation General Secretary Shiv Prakash.
What the Training Covers
According to an official party statement, the curriculum spans an introduction to the BJP and its history, the Panch Nishtha, the teachings of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, Modi government welfare schemes, the NaMo App, Mann Ki Baat, and the party's major organisational programmes. Chugh said the drive draws inspiration from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India Mission and is intended to 'help carry the message of good governance to the grassroots.'
Target Exceeded, Expansion Underway
The campaign set a target of enrolling 10 lakh karyakartas between 23 June — observed as the martyrdom day of Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee — and 6 July, his birth anniversary. The final enrolment of over 11 lakh exceeded that goal by more than 10%. The initiative is now being expanded to the booth level, with the party targeting at least 10 fully trained digital karyakartas per booth.
State-wise Performance
Madhya Pradesh led all states with 1,83,113 registered workers. Tripura recorded an average of 20 participants per booth and an 85% course completion rate. Arunachal Pradesh and Chandigarh each averaged more than five participants per booth. On completion rates, Chhattisgarh topped at 90%, followed by Arunachal Pradesh at 89%, Madhya Pradesh at 87%, Tripura and Himachal Pradesh at 85% each, and Nagaland and Ladakh both at 83% — all crossing the 80% threshold.
What's Next
Chugh attributed the outcome to the commitment of party workers, organisational leadership, and training teams at every level. The campaign, driven under the guidance of Shiv Prakash in coordination with district and mandal-level structures, is set to continue scaling. The BJP's stated goal is to ensure every booth across India is digitally empowered ahead of future electoral cycles.
