In response to a query from BJP's South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Minister Chouhan presented figures in the Lok Sabha indicating that from August 2019 to March 2025, farmers in Delhi have collectively received Rs 48.79 crore through the scheme.
The Union Minister highlighted that nationwide, 10.06 crore beneficiaries of PM-KISAN have been allocated Rs 23,500.83 crore in the most recent disbursement for the period from December 2024 to March 2025.
Stressing on the government’s efforts for complete transparency in the beneficiary registration and verification process, Chouhan noted that as of July 16, over Rs 3.69 lakh crore has been distributed to farmers across 19 instalments since the program's initiation.
“A farmer-focused digital framework has guaranteed that the scheme's advantages reach all qualifying farmers nationwide without the need for intermediaries,” he stated.
The PM-KISAN initiative, launched in February 2019 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, aims to support the financial needs of land-holding farmers.
Farmers receive a financial aid of Rs 6,000 annually, disbursed in three equal payments through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into their Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.
The scheme was rolled out in Delhi from August to November 2019, coinciding with the national scheme's third instalment. By March 2025, 19 instalments will have been made available across the country, starting from December 2018 to March 2019.
According to Ministry data, during the first financial aid distribution in Delhi from August to November 2019, 11,534 farmers received Rs 4.72 crore.
However, the number of beneficiary farmers in the National Capital saw a significant drop to 8,302 in August to November 2023, with Rs 1.97 crore disbursed under the Central government's scheme.
Since then, the number of beneficiaries has steadily increased, with the PM-KISAN's 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th instalments reaching 10,240, 10,808, 10,829, and 11,171 farmers in Delhi between December 2023 and March 2025.
The respective funds allocated for Delhi farmers during the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th instalments amounted to Rs 3.22 crore, Rs 2.51 crore, Rs 2.26 crore, and Rs 2.59 crore, as per the data shared by the Minister.
