Jaipur, July 22 (NationPress) During the initial phase of the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme, more than 1.18 lakh internship opportunities have been made available to young individuals across 735 districts in the country within just seven months. This announcement was made by the Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, in response to a query posed by MP and BJP Rajasthan State President Madan Rathore on Tuesday.

The scheme, which was inaugurated on January 9, 2025, by the Modi administration, aims to connect over 1 crore youth with internships in the nation's top 500 elite companies.

As part of its pilot initiative, the scheme has set an ambitious target of providing 1.25 lakh internships within a year. So far, 327 partner companies have joined the initiative, offering more than 1.18 lakh internships.

MP Madan Rathore reported to the House that, as of July 17, over 71,000 internship offers were made, with more than 22,500 accepted by applicants.

The scheme is designed for youth aged 21 to 24 years and is open to those who have completed at least high school or higher secondary education.

Eligible applicants include graduates and diploma holders with qualifications such as ITI, BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, and BPharma.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs is actively working alongside state governments, industry associations, and educational institutions to promote this initiative.

Rathore highlighted that the scheme seeks to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry demands by providing young individuals with hands-on experience, professional training, and vital skills in real-world work settings.
