Jammu, July 5 (NationPress) - On Saturday, 25 pilgrims participating in the Amarnath Yatra experienced minor injuries following a collision involving four buses in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to officials, one of the bus drivers lost control, likely due to a brake failure.
"This incident resulted in the collision among four buses within the convoy close to Chandrakote Yatri Langar along the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district," officials added.
Rescue teams from the Police and Health Department arrived swiftly, transporting the injured to the Ramban district hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Ramban, Ilyas Khan, visited the hospital to check on the condition of the injured.
He confirmed that 25 pilgrims had suffered minor injuries due to the collision.
"All injured individuals are expected to be discharged after receiving first aid," stated the Deputy Commissioner.
Officials also mentioned that alternative transport arrangements have been established for the injured to continue their journey post-discharge from the hospital.
Since the commencement of the 38-day-long Yatra on July 3, over 26,800 pilgrims have participated within just two days.
Additionally, another group of 6,979 pilgrims departed from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas for Kashmir on Saturday in two escorted convoys consisting of 312 vehicles.
This year’s Yatra has seen unprecedented security measures implemented, following a tragic terrorist attack on April 22 in Baisaran meadow of Pahalgam, where Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists took the lives of 26 civilians based on their faith.
An additional 180 companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed to strengthen the existing forces, including the Army, Border Security Force, Sashastra Seema Bal, Central Reserve Police Force, and local police, ensuring a secure passage for the pilgrims.
The entire road from Jammu to the two base camps, Baltal and Pahalgam, along with both trekking routes to the holy cave shrine, are under constant surveillance by security forces.
