The Ministry of Ayush has announced that in 2025, India will host its largest Homoeopathic symposium in Gandhinagar, Gujarat in celebration of World Homoeopathy Day.
Every year on April 10, India commemorates World Homoeopathy Day, honoring the birth of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the pioneer of homoeopathy.
This day is particularly meaningful in India, where over 100 million individuals rely on this alternative treatment.
According to the ministry, “Homoeopathy has developed a robust healthcare support system in India. Beneath its gentle approach lies a comprehensive network of doctors, hospitals, colleges, and research facilities. Over 3.45 lakh registered homoeopathic practitioners are dedicated to providing gentle, affordable healing to countless individuals.”
India is home to 277 homoeopathy hospitals offering inpatient care, catering to patients who require ongoing attention but not emergency services.
Additionally, there are 8,593 homoeopathy dispensaries located in urban and rural areas, providing essential health services. For those needing extended care and recovery, India has 8,697 dedicated homoeopathy beds available in Ayush wellness hospitals.
Homoeopathy education is flourishing with 277 colleges nationwide, including 197 undergraduate institutions, 3 standalone postgraduate colleges, and 77 combined UG/PG colleges.
These institutions function under the National Commission for Homoeopathy, part of the Ministry of Ayush, supported by 7,092 committed teaching faculty members who are training the future generation of BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) doctors.
In the pharmaceutical sector, 384 companies are engaged in the production of homoeopathic medicines, ensuring the availability of high-quality, standardized remedies throughout the nation.
To uphold quality, 1,117 official pharmacopoeial monographs for homoeopathic drugs have been published, providing a trustworthy reference for the preparation of safe and effective medicines.
With 35 dedicated research centers and outpatient departments under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), India is expanding the possibilities of this ancient healing system in today's world.
“To ensure smooth operations, 28 State Councils and Boards are in place to guarantee that practitioners are well-qualified and ethically registered, preserving public trust in the healthcare system,” the ministry remarked.
