New Delhi, Jan 21 (NationPress) More than 450 students are set to participate in the spectacular conclusion of the National School Band Competition 2024-25, which is part of the Republic Day festivities for 2025, taking place at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium on January 24 and 25.

The award ceremony on January 25 will feature the attendance of MoS Defence, Sanjay Seth, while the event will be formally opened by the Defence Secretary and the Secretary of the Ministry of Education.

A total of 16 band teams—four from each region (East, West, North, and South)—comprising 466 children will vie for victory in the Grand Finale.

This competition aims to revitalize the spirit of patriotism and unity among school children across the nation and encourage them towards a path of holistic education.

The top three teams from each category will be awarded cash prizes (first Rs 21,000, second Rs 16,000, and third Rs 11,000), along with trophies and certificates.

Additionally, a consolation cash prize of Rs 3,000 will be given to the remaining teams in each category. Their performances will be assessed by a jury appointed by the Ministry of Defence, which includes members from various branches of the Armed Forces.

The National School Band Competition has been jointly organized since 2023 by the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education.

The competition includes three levels (State Level, Zonal Level, and National Level (final)) across four categories (Boys Brass Band, Girls Brass Band, Boys Pipe Band, and Girls Pipe Band).

Building on the achievements of last year, over 700 school band teams from 34 States/Union Territories (UTs) registered for the State Level competition, with 568 teams comprising around 14,000 children participating.

At the zonal level, 84 teams with 2,337 students from 31 States/UTs took part, from which 16 finalist teams have been selected for the grand finale.
