To enhance accessibility in the most remote regions, India Post has distributed mobile and laptop Aadhaar kits to Post Offices. This initiative has particularly benefited citizens, especially DBT beneficiaries, allowing them to access various government schemes.
Starting from January 6, 2025, the Department of Posts has implemented Aadhaar-based e-KYC across its post offices, leading to the opening of 1,09,878 accounts and facilitating 24,45,029 transactions.
In July, the Department signed a partnership with the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) to streamline KYC verification for mutual fund investors through its extensive network of 1.64 lakh post offices.
The postal network will also be utilized for the sale of BSNL SIM cards and mobile recharge services nationwide, with post offices serving as Points of Sale (PoS) for these products.
A revamped ATM network now operates at 1,000 locations, enhancing system reliability and operational efficiency with quicker response times and reduced downtime, as stated by the ministry.
The ministry also drew attention to the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (DNK) initiative, which aims to democratize exports by enabling small producers, artisans, weavers, women entrepreneurs, self-help groups (SHGs), MSMEs, and rural enterprises to export directly to global markets without intermediaries.
Upcoming projects include a Rural Digital Connectivity Survey across 6.5 lakh villages in collaboration with TRAI, as well as onsite verification of 3.69 crore MSMEs registered on the Udyam portal.
