New Delhi, April 12 (NationPress) The distribution of domestic LPG across the nation remains stable, with over 52.3 lakh domestic LPG cylinders successfully delivered on Saturday and no shortages reported at any distributor, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on Sunday.

Online bookings for LPG have surged to approximately 98 percent, with deliveries utilizing the Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) escalating to around 93 percent. This measure has been implemented to curb any potential diversion at the distributor level, as highlighted in the ministry's update.

Additionally, over 4.24 lakh PNG connections have been activated, and about 4.66 lakh new customers have registered for fresh connections. Consumers are encouraged to explore alternative energy sources such as PNG and electric cooktops. The ministry also emphasizes the importance of energy conservation during this period.

Over 30,000 PNG users have opted to relinquish their LPG connections through the MYPNGD.in portal.

Citizens are advised against panic buying of fuels such as petrol, diesel, and LPG, and are encouraged to rely solely on official sources for updates. LPG customers are urged to utilize digital booking options and minimize visits to distributors.

In light of current geopolitical tensions, the government is committed to ensuring a steady supply of domestic LPG and PNG, particularly for essential institutions like hospitals and schools.

More than 1 lakh 5 kg LPG cylinders were distributed nationwide, surpassing the average of 77,000 in February, bringing the total sold since March 23 to over 13 lakh.

On Saturday alone, over 7,665 MT of commercial LPG (equivalent to more than 4 lakh 19 kg LPG cylinders) was sold, totaling 63.6 lakh such cylinders sold since March 14.

A committee comprising three Executive Directors from IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL is collaborating with state authorities and industry organizations to strategize the distribution of commercial LPG.

As part of ongoing enforcement actions to combat hoarding and black marketing of LPG, public sector oil companies conducted more than 2,700 raids nationwide on Saturday. They are continuing with unannounced inspections and have already levied penalties against 219 LPG distributors, with 56 having their operations suspended.

Refineries are operating at peak capacity, maintaining sufficient crude inventories. The country is also ensuring adequate stocks of petrol and diesel. Domestic LPG production from refineries has been elevated to meet local demand, as stated by the ministry.

The government is diligently working to guarantee the availability of petrol, diesel, and LPG. Citizens are advised to refrain from panic buying and unnecessary LPG bookings. They are encouraged to use digital platforms for LPG cylinder bookings and limit visits to distributors unless absolutely necessary.

Furthermore, the government announced an increase in the commercial LPG allocation to 70 percent of the pre-March 2026 bulk consumption level, which will now also apply to industrial sectors including pharmaceuticals, food, polymers, agriculture, packaging, paint, uranium, heavy water, steel, seed, metal, ceramics, foundry, forging, glass, and aerosols.
