5.3 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Telangana and Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, Dec 4 (NationPress) An earthquake registering a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter Scale struck various regions of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh this Wednesday morning.

The tremors were experienced in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, and several other locations within the two Telugu states at approximately 7.27 a.m.. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties or property damage.

Residents in some areas rushed out of their homes in a state of panic as the ground shook for about 3 to 5 seconds.

The National Centre for Seismology reported that the earthquake's epicenter was located near Mulugu in Telangana, with the tremors being felt over a radius of 225 km from this point, as confirmed by CSIR-NGRI scientists.

The tremors were particularly intense in the districts alongside the banks of the Godavari River in both states.

In Hyderabad, residents in areas such as Cyberabad, Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar, and Abdullapurmet reported experiencing the shaking. Numerous videos showing household items rattling were shared widely on social media.

Some individuals recounted seeing utensils and other items tumble to the floor, while ceiling fans swayed. Initially, it took them a moment to comprehend that they were in the midst of an earthquake, prompting many to evacuate their homes as a safety measure.

The tremors extended to the united districts of Khammam, Rangareddy, Warangal, and Karimnagar. In the united Warangal district, residents in places like Mulugu, Hanamkonda, and Jayashankar Bhupalpally also felt the shaking.

In the united Khammam district, areas like Kothagudem, Manugur, Bhadrachalam, Charla, Chintakani, Nagulavancha, and Yellandu experienced the tremors.

In Andhra Pradesh, regions such as Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Jaggaiahpet, Nandigama, Eluru, and others reported the tremors.

There were also reports indicating that some areas in Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh felt the seismic activity.
