New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged residents of Delhi-NCR to remain calm and adhere to safety precautions following the occurrence of strong earthquake tremors early in the day.
Using the social media platform X, the Prime Minister stated, "Tremors have been experienced in Delhi and surrounding areas. I encourage everyone to maintain calmness and follow safety measures, while remaining vigilant for potential aftershocks. The authorities are closely monitoring the situation."
The tremors, which registered a magnitude of 4.0 on the Richter scale, occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m., leading to widespread panic among the populace. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 5 kilometers.
The earthquake originated at a latitude of 28.59 North and longitude of 77.16 East, and its effects were felt in multiple regions within the National Capital Region (NCR), including Delhi, Noida, Indirapuram, and neighboring areas.
