New Delhi, Feb 17 (NationPress) Intense earthquake tremors rattled the Delhi-NCR area in the early morning hours of Monday, causing alarm among the residents.
As reported by the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremors, which measured a magnitude of 4.0, were felt at approximately 5:36 a.m. and originated at a depth of 5 kilometers.
The earthquake occurred at a latitude of 28.59 North and longitude of 77.16 East, affecting regions including Delhi, Noida, Indirapuram, and various other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR).
The NCS validated the tremors by posting an update on the social media platform X, which stated: "EQ of M: 4.0, On: 17/02/2025 05:36:55 IST, Lat: 28.59 N, Long: 77.16 E, Depth: 5 Km, Location: New Delhi, Delhi."

Likewise, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal shared his feelings, saying, "I pray for the safety of everyone."
Even though the tremors lasted only a few seconds, their strength was enough to alarm residents, leading many to evacuate their homes as a precaution.
While the earthquake generated widespread fear, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or property damage.
However, since Delhi-NCR is categorized under Seismic Zone IV, the area remains vulnerable to moderate to strong seismic activities.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety measures during such occurrences.
Authorities have yet to release additional information, but experts are actively monitoring the scenario.
Earthquake preparedness and awareness are essential in seismic-prone regions like Delhi-NCR, where tremors of different magnitudes are periodically experienced.
