New Delhi, Nov 8 (NationPress) A remarkable 67.94 lakh digital life certificates (DLCs) have been created this year to improve the ease of living for pensioners, with 40.42 lakh of these generated through face authentication, as per an official announcement made on Saturday.
In just five days (from November 1-5), 25.60 lakh DLCs were produced, with 15.62 lakh (61 percent) utilizing the face authentication method. The report noted that over 37,000 DLCs were issued for pensioners aged over 90 years, and 985 for those above 100 years.
The face authentication process is accessible through smartphones, allowing pensioners to submit their DLCs “anytime anywhere.” This is particularly beneficial for elderly and ill pensioners, eliminating the need for visits to banks or pension disbursement offices.
A national campaign, DLC Campaign 4.0, has been initiated by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare in collaboration with various stakeholders, including Pension Disbursing Banks, India Post Payments Bank, and others, running from November 1-30, 2025, aimed at reaching pensioners in the most remote areas.
V. Srinivas, Secretary of the Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare, inaugurated a significant camp held by Punjab National Bank at the Sansad Marg branch.
While addressing the pensioners, he emphasized the government's initiatives for their digital empowerment. The advent of digital submission of life certificates significantly enhances ease of living, especially for elderly and ill pensioners.
Punjab National Bank is conducting camps in 39 cities at 185 locations nationwide.
During the mega camp, face authentication for the generation of Digital Life Certificates was prominently featured. The convenience of submitting Life Certificates through digital methods, especially the Face Authentication technique, which allows for generation ‘Anytime Anywhere’, was highlighted during these efforts, the statement concluded.
