Government Distributes 1.3 Crore Digital Life Certificates to Pensioners in Campaign 3.0

New Delhi, Dec 1 (NationPress) The Government's Department of Pensions and Pensioners' Welfare has successfully wrapped up its Campaign 3.0 by issuing 1.30 crore Digital Life Certificates to pensioners, as stated in an official release on Sunday.
This initiative was launched to simplify the submission of digital life certificates, especially for super senior pensioners. It has achieved remarkable milestones by utilizing innovative technologies and extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, according to the statement.
More than 39 lakh digital life certificates (DLCs), accounting for over 30 percent, were generated using Face Authentication Technology.
This marks a 200-fold increase compared to the DLC 2.0 Campaign. This revolutionary technology has been particularly advantageous for elderly pensioners with faded fingerprints, differently-abled individuals facing mobility issues, and pensioners residing in rural and remote areas, as per the official statement.
As of November 30, 2024, over 1.30 crore DLCs were processed, building upon earlier campaigns. The target is to exceed 1.60 crore DLC submissions by March 2025, the statement continued.
Significant efforts led to a high number of DLC submissions from pensioners aged 80 and above, with more than 8 lakh DLCs submitted. The IPPB took the initiative to provide doorstep services for super senior pensioners.
The campaign aimed for a saturation model, ensuring comprehensive coverage across the nation to guarantee that no pensioner was overlooked, focusing on underserved groups.
Collaborative efforts among banks, post offices, and volunteer organizations were foundational to the campaign's universal coverage approach.
In terms of state-wise contributions, Maharashtra led with 20 lakh DLCs through effective coordination and public awareness initiatives, followed by Tamil Nadu with 13 lakh DLCs, Uttar Pradesh with 11 lakh DLCs, and West Bengal with 10 lakh DLCs.
Notable contributions from key ministries included:
1. Central Civil: Facilitated 6 lakh DLCs, extensively using face authentication.
2. Defence: Processed 25 lakh DLCs for retired armed forces personnel.
3. Railways: Delivered 4 lakh DLCs for retired employees.
4. Posts: 3 lakh DLC submissions.
5. Telecom: Enabled 3 lakh DLCs, utilizing its vast network.
6. Major banks such as SBI, IPPB, PNB, and Canara Bank played a crucial role in the campaign's success by generating 11.3, 7.3, 2.7, and 1.8 lakh DLCs respectively. These banks organized specialized camps in 150 cities covering over 750 locations to assist pensioners with limited digital access.
These initiatives ensured that pensioners without smartphones or internet access could easily submit their life certificates. All Pension Disbursing Banks accounted for 40 percent of the DLCs, marking another milestone.
This percentage is expected to rise in December 2024 when remaining pensioners submit their DLCs, the statement noted.
In alignment with the Digital India vision, the DLC campaign reflects the Prime Minister's commitment to improving the quality of life for senior citizens.
During his Mann Ki Baat on November 24, 2024, he praised the initiative for empowering elderly pensioners through technology, allowing them to submit DLCs from the comfort of their homes.
