Srinagar, Oct 4 (NationPress) Following the decision of the Omar Abdullah-led National Conference government to reinstate the October-November session for secondary school examinations in the Kashmir Valley and Ladakh, the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) announced the schedule for class 10 exams on Saturday, with approximately 95,000 students expected to participate.
After coming to power in the Union Territory in October 2024, Education Minister Sakina Itoo revealed that the government would revert to the October-November session, replacing the March session.
Due to significant interruptions in the academic calendar caused by heatwaves, heavy rainfall, floods, and cloudbursts, JKBOSE has implemented a 15 percent reduction in the syllabus.
On Saturday, JKBOSE released the datesheet for the class 10 Annual/Regular 2025 (October-November session), scheduling exams to commence on November 3 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Nearly 95,000 students from the Kashmir division and winter zone areas of the Jammu division, including those from Ladakh, are set to take the exam, which has been reinstated to the October-November session.
The exams will kick off on November 3 with Mathematics, followed by Social Science on November 7.
The Science exam is scheduled for November 11, and the English paper will take place on November 14.
Urdu/Hindi papers are set for November 17, Computer Science on November 19, and vocational subjects on November 21.
Less populated subjects like Home Science will be conducted on November 23, Music on November 25, and additional subjects including Kashmiri/Dogri/Bhoti/Punjabi/Arabic/Urdu/Hindi/Persian/Sanskrit on November 24.
The exam period will conclude on November 27 with Painting/Art and Drawing papers scheduled for that day.
In light of the disruptions to the academic schedule caused by extreme weather, JKBOSE has allowed a 15 percent syllabus concession, whereby an attempt of 85 percent marks will be treated as equivalent to 100 percent.
