Chandigarh, March 19 (NationPress) The ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Punjab announced on Wednesday that it has secured a significant achievement for the residents of Nayagaon and Kansal, situated on the outskirts of Chandigarh, by reducing the eco-sensitive zone surrounding the area to 100 metres, a substantial decrease from the originally proposed three km, thereby benefiting over 40,000 residents.

This landmark decision has received the endorsement of the Supreme Court, offering considerable relief to numerous families in the vicinity.

Expressing her joy over the ruling, Kharar MLA Anmol Gagan Maan stated, “The long-awaited request of the Nayagaon and Kansal community to restrict the eco-sensitive zone to 100 metres has finally been realized. For years, residents faced the anxiety of potential demolitions and challenges in obtaining building approvals. The Supreme Court's endorsement of this 100-metre limit effectively puts an end to these issues, providing essential relief to the community.”

MLA Maan elaborated that the earlier suggestion to expand the eco-sensitive zone to three km would have rendered extensive areas of land unusable, severely affecting property values and posing obstacles for homeowners. The AAP government has remained true to its pledge to safeguard the interests of the populace, diligently working to resolve this matter in favor of the residents.

MLA Anmol Gagan Maan expressed her gratitude towards AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, stating, “This ruling exemplifies the AAP government's commitment to protecting the rights and livelihoods of the people in Punjab. Despite facing numerous challenges and opposition attempts to extend the limit to three km, our administration stood resolute and achieved this victory for the Nayagaon and Kansal residents.” She mentioned that over 40,000-50,000 residents in the area will now reap the benefits of this ruling. The approval of building plans will now move forward without any legal or administrative obstacles, and the persistent anxiety of demolition has been permanently alleviated.
