New Delhi, Jan 17 (NationPress) With the Delhi Assembly elections approaching, the BJP has officially welcomed two former AAP councillors from West Delhi on Friday. The city unit president, Virendra Sachdeva, characterized their switch as a sign of the "sinking ship" that is Arvind Kejriwal's party.
“On February 8, a BJP government will be established, liberating the city from AAP-da,” Sachdeva stated during the ceremony to welcome AAP councillors Ravinder Solanki (Baprola) and Narender Girsa (Manglapuri) into the BJP.
Criticizing Kejriwal for reaching out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same day, Sachdeva remarked it would have been wiser for him to tender his resignation instead.
In response to Kejriwal's challenge to the BJP to promise a larger financial aid than AAP's Rs 2,100 for women, Sachdeva retorted, “Kejriwal should cease advising the BJP on financial support for women in Delhi. He must first address the failure of the AAP government to provide Rs 1,000 each to women in Punjab.”
Regarding Kejriwal's proposal to reduce Delhi Metro fares for students, he stated, “Kejriwal should first discuss the kickbacks he received, the corruption in Sheesh Mahal, and the theft he committed.”
Sachdeva further noted that the inclusion of these two influential public representatives from West Delhi would bolster the BJP's position and ensure the AAP-da is ousted by voters in the upcoming election on February 8.
“These councillors have built a reputation through their public service. They will enhance our initiatives to establish a double-engine government in Delhi and create a ‘Viksit Delhi’,” he added.
West Delhi MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat expressed her support for the two former AAP founding members who joined the BJP.
She highlighted that the two councillors were discontented with the reduced development funds allocated by the AAP-ruled MCD.
“These leaders are not switching sides without justification; it is Arvind Kejriwal who has changed and failed to uphold his promises to them and their constituents,” she asserted.
She noted that currently, each councillor receives only Rs 15 lakh annually for development efforts, which is quite inadequate. “Voters are questioning them regarding the stalled advancements in their wards,” she concluded.
